I’m not a collector. How can collecting be good for you? I hate dusting, and if I can’t find room for something it gets given or thrown away. With fatigue and pain taking up hours of my time, it takes too much energy to keep the house tidy. An ornament of any size has to really appeal to me. This large beauty gets a polish every now and then.
I make an exception to my no ornaments rule … I do enjoy collecting elephants. Given my preoccupation with writing about ghosts, and squeezing dragons into my stories, I should probably be collecting something more Gothic. But no, elephants are my go to design for everything collectible 🙂
Not the actual animals of course, they are rather large! But I do collect all sorts of elephant items.
I have:
- elephant
earrings,
- candle and incense holders,
- bookends,
- elephant themed stationery,
- ornaments (far too many of them),
- elephant designs on, table runners, coasters, plates, cups, and teapots.
- Even a few elephants on clothes 😀
Did I say I’m not a collector? I guess I am after all. And I’ve come to think collecting is good for you!!
I love that it gives friends and relatives great ideas on what to give me for presents.
A thoughtful elephant themed gift is always gratefully received 🙂
I get a sense of achievement from collecting different shapes, materials and forms. And it’s great fun arranging my elephants in different places and rooms from time to time.
Most importantly, it gives me pleasure 🙂
Is collecting ever bad? I haven’t turned into a hoarder, yet… I don’t think that’s any danger for me, I like my house to look pretty – even though I have lots of elephant ornaments, there’s not too many.
Honestly there isn’t. But let’s not count them 😀
